The Benson Medallist 2020

Linda Crook was commissioned to create The Benson Medal 2020, awarded by the Royal Society of Literature in the UK to Boyd Tonkin.

The medal award was founded in 1916 by A. C. Benson who was a Fellow of the Society, to honour those who produce “meritorious works in poetry, fiction, history and belles-lettres”.

The medal is awarded for lifelong achievement. Recipients include: Edmund Blunden, Anita Desai, Maureen Duffy,[E. M. Forster,Christopher Fry, John Gawsworth, Nadine Gordimer, Philip Larkin, R. K. Narayan, A. L. Rowse, George Santayana, Wole Soyinka, Lytton Strachey, J. R. R. Tolkien, and Helen Waddell.

Marsh Award for the Encouragement of Medallic Art 2025

The Marsh Charitable Trust and the British Art Medal Society (BAMS)’s annual award to recognise an individual or organisation that has made a ‘significant contribution to the understanding, appreciation and encouragement of the art of the medal’.
